Newage Agric Solutions Ltd @5: Five Years of Transforming Agriculture in Ghana

Five years ago, a bold vision took root — to revolutionise agriculture in Ghana through innovation, empowerment, and sustainable growth. Today, Newage Agric Solutions Ltd stands as one of Ghana’s leading agribusiness firms, celebrated for its transformative impact on the country’s agricultural landscape.

It comes as no surprise that the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG) recognised Newage Agric Solutions Ltd as the Agric Marketing Company of the Year 2022. This honour, conferred in 2023, is a testament to the company’s dedication to innovation, farmer empowerment, and value creation across the agricultural value chain.

Our Journey: Five Years of Growth and Innovation

Founded with a vision to empower farmers and modernise Ghanaian agriculture, Newage Agric Solutions Ltd began with a small but determined team. Over the past five years, that vision has flourished into a thriving enterprise impacting tens of thousands of farmers nationwide.

Our operations span multiple areas — from farmer out-grower schemes for maize, rice, and soy production to training and capacity building, agro-input supply, and agro-processing. We are also proud to operate one of Ghana’s largest poultry farms, Rosons Farms, a key player in the country’s food security ecosystem.

Chi-Gaba: Empowering Smallholder Farmers

At the heart of our work lies Chi-Gaba, a social enterprise initiative designed to improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers while boosting local grain production. Through Chi-Gaba, over 45,000 farmers have been supported with essential inputs worth millions of cedis — without paying upfront. Instead, farmers repay with part of their harvest, ensuring sustainable, inclusive financing.

Another key programme, the Seed Technology Improvement and Commercialisation (STIC) Project, supports Ghana’s seed industry by developing and commercialising high-yield, resilient varieties of maize, rice, and soy. This initiative has enabled farmers to access improved seeds and enhance productivity across regions.

Rice Processing and Local Brands: Evivi Rice

In response to the growing demand for high-quality locally produced rice, Newage Agric established a modern rice processing factory in Okwenya, Eastern Region. The facility began with a 2-metric tonne per hour milling line and has since expanded to a 3-metric tonne per hour capacity, complete with a new dryer and storage facilities.

The factory has given rise to our flagship local rice brand, Evivi Rice — a premium long-grain rice proudly grown and processed in Ghana. Through this initiative, we have connected smallholder farmers to national markets, promoting local consumption and reducing dependence on imports.

Our vision extends beyond rice. Around the Okwenya factory, we are developing a full-fledged agriculture village — a hub featuring a modern mill, a slaughterhouse for our new poultry product Evivi Happy Chicken, and supporting facilities that will drive agri-industrial growth in the area.

Nserewa: Redefining Agricultural Financing

Innovation is at the core of Newage Agric’s philosophy. Through Nserewa, our groundbreaking crowd-farming programme, we are changing how agriculture is financed in Ghana. Nserewa enables individuals, especially professionals, to sponsor farming activities — from input procurement to post-harvest marketing — while earning fair returns on their investment.

This initiative not only bridges the financing gap but also connects Ghanaians from all walks of life to the nation’s agricultural development story.

Newage Academy: Nurturing the Next Generation of Agripreneurs

Our newest initiative, Newage Academy, is a centre dedicated to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and practical problem-solving in agriculture. The academy supports the development, testing, and scaling of business ideas that drive sustainable growth and economic empowerment.

Strategic Partnerships: The Backbone of Our Success

Newage Agric’s journey has been powered by collaboration. Our partnerships with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), Mastercard Foundation, Lancaster University, Temple Invest, Bayer, Syngenta, and Lake Agriculture have been instrumental in expanding our reach and impact.

“These collaborations have been the backbone of our progress and a testament to the power of working together toward a shared vision,”
Roland Quaye, Managing Partner, Newage Agric Solutions Ltd.

Looking Ahead: The Next Chapter

As we celebrate five years of growth, impact, and innovation, we do so with gratitude and optimism. Our mission remains clear — to scale our efforts, empower more farmers, and drive lasting change in Ghana’s agricultural sector.

“The road was sometimes bumpy, and the rains didn’t always come when expected. But every step was worth it — because of the countless smiles of farmers who now see brighter futures,”
Roland Quaye, Managing Partner.

With over 45,000 youth farmers empowered — more than 40% of them women — Newage Agric Solutions Ltd is proud of the progress made so far. But we know this is just the beginning.

Here’s to the next five years — of transforming agriculture, empowering communities, and growing Ghana’s future, one farm at a time.
