WeComm Agri-Media and Consultancy Limited, in collaboration with Chi-Gaba and Newage Agric Solutions, has organised a one-day trip to Asutuare and Akuse known as the Nserewa Road Show<\/strong> as a part of efforts to demonstrate to sponsors how their investments are being used and the progress being made with the 1000-acre Nserewa Rice Project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trip had participants from the Nserewa Sponsors, Venture Capital Firms and staff of WeComm, Newage and Chi-Gaba. The contingent of 30 people toured the 30,000-capacity catfish farm in Akuse and 250 acres of rice fields under Nserewa in Asutuare. The team interacted with farmers engaged in the rice initiative and were given a brief by the lead agronomists on the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the catfish farm, the team were given a full educational tour of the catfish production business. They also had the opportunity to feed the fish and explore the five huge ponds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during the tour, the General Manager of WeComm, Kojo Akoto Boateng, expressed his excitement about the number of sponsors present. He reiterated that it is Nserewa\u2019s duty to keep clients up to date with the project and make sure they see the outcome of their funds. He added \u201cIt is our goal, to make farming exciting and interactive. WeComm is committed to its support of farmers and the progress of Ghana’s agricultural sector. I want to use this platform to assure the market that we are committed to Ghana\u2019s food security and that we shall continuously expand our projects to produce more rice, maize, soya and fish\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participants on the tour praised WeComm and partners for the commitment to food production and how well the farms are run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was really impressed with the coordination from the entire team. Everything was well planned and organized. I was stunned with how green the rice fields looked. I was a bit shy and nervous but everyone was welcoming and fun to interact with\u201d Antoinette, an IT professional and sponsor commented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another sponsor, Prosper Awuku, added that it was wonderful to see the partners behind the Nserewa project and they are glad the project is making a positive impact in various farming communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Briefing the team on the progress of the Nserewa Rice Project, the lead technical officer \u2013 Mr Eugene Zori, said all the rice fields in Asutuare, Weta, Kpoglo and Golokuati are doing well. He informed the team that the about 300 farmers working on the project received inputs and technical support on time to ensure the production stuck to the timeliness. According to him, harvesting and milling of the rice will begin in September, and consumers will get rice form the Nserewa Project all year round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day ended with a buffet and networking session at the Royal Senchi Resort, where there was a photo session with sponsors, partners, and staff of WeComm. Present at the Nserewa rice tour was Newage Agric Solutions, a key partner in providing the quality input and technical assistance for the farming project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
